Annual Report Details a Year of Incredible Success

The WateReuse Research Foundation’s 2012 Annual Report details a year of incredible success. Fifteen new research projects were commissioned, total­ing nearly $2.6 million in contract awards. In addition to increasing the body of scientific research, adding to the library of reports and data, and introducing new edu­cational programs, the Foundation has established itself as the leading authority to address dir­ect potable reuse (DPR) in California, the results of which will have national implications as water scarcity has impact­ed most of the US in recent years.

$1.3 Million Approved for the 2013 Solicited Research Program

The WateReuse Research Foundation’s Board of Directors approved $1.3 million to fund seven new solicited research projects at its March 8 meeting in Alexandria, VA. Three of the new projects are funded under the California Direct Potable Reuse Initiative, which is a partnership between the Foundation and WateReuse California to support applied research and education and outreach activities that advance direct potable reuse. Requests for Proposals (RFPs) for the new studies will be released in the summer and fall.

American Water Pledges $500,000 to Support Research

American Water has pledged $500,000 over four years to the WateReuse Research Foundation to help fund its refocused research agenda, and to foster greater collaborative efforts among water organizations. The philanthropic gift was announced at the December meeting of the Foundation’s Board of Directors in Los Angeles by Mark Strauss, Senior Vice President of Corporate Strategy and Business Development for American Water, who is also a WRRF board member.
