Sacramento is the perfect location for this year’s Gordon Cologne Breakfast, honoring Judge Gordon Cologne, author of the Porter-Cologne Act and the first lobbyist for the WateReuse Association. The popular session includes the presentation of the annual Gordon Cologne Award which recognizes individuals who have made a significant contribution to the legislative or regulatory advancement of water recycling in California.
The Gordon Cologne breakfast will feature several members of the Legislature giving their perspective on issues related to water supply, regulatory reform and the state's support of water recycling. Confirmed speakers include:
Assembly Member Mike Gatto, from the 43rd District including the communities of Burbank, Glendale, North Hollywood and portions of Los Angeles. An attorney and lifelong resident of the district, Mr. Gatto serves on the following Assembly committees: Appropriations, Arts, Entertainment, Sports, Tourism, and Internet Media, Banking and Finance, Governmental Organization, and Water, Parks and Wildlife.
Assembly Member Brian Jones, represents the 77th District including a large portion of eastern San Diego County including El Cajon, La Mesa and Santee. He is the Deputy Floor Manager for the Assembly Republican Caucus and sits on six committees: Assembly Legislative Ethics; Budget; Human Services (Vice Chair); Judiciary; Water, Parks and Wildlife; and the Select Committee on San Diego Trade, Tourism and Job Creation.
Senator Fran Pavley represents the 23rd District stretching across Los Angeles and Ventura counties including the Santa Monica Mountains and coastal areas on the south to the San Fernando Valley on the North, and from Hollywood all the way up to Oxnard and Port Hueneme. Senator Pavley was the 2011 recipient of the Gordon Cologne award. She is Chair of the Senate Natural Resources and Water committee and serves on Senate Appropriations; Energy, Utilities, and Communications; Environmental Quality; and Transportation & Housing committees.
Senator Christine Kehoe is from San Diego' county's 39th District stretching east-west from Spring Valley to the Pacific Ocean, and north-south from Del Mar to Downtown San Diego. Senator Kehoe is Chair of the Senate Appropriations committee and serves on Banking & Financial Institutions; Governance & Finance; Natural Resources and Water; and Transportation and Housing committees.
