About Desalination

The WateReuse Association supports projects that increase the availability of high-quality water, improve reliability, protect public health, and safeguard the environment. Desalination refers to specific treatment processes, such as reverse osmosis, used to remove salts and other pollutants from water. Given that about 97.2% of the water on the planet is saline, desalination can be a viable component of a overall water management plan for some communities.
