Association Releases 21st Annual WateReuse Symposium Proceedings

ALEXANDRIA, VA – The WateReuse Association announces the release of proceedings from the 21st Annual WateReuse Symposium, held September 10-13, 2006 in Hollywood, CA. The conference proved to be the biggest and best ever with a record 633 registrants, 123 technical presentations, four facility tours, four panel discussions, two receptions, an awards luncheon, and 37 exhibitors. The theme of the conference was Stars of the Future: Reuse and Desalination.

Presented by the WateReuse Association and cosponsored by the American Water Works Association (AWWA) and the Water Environment Federation (WEF), the Symposium included sessions devoted to such stimulating and diverse topics as micropollutants, desalination, indirect potable reuse,
operational issues, and global water reuse.

The keynote address was delivered by Representative Grace F. Napolitano (D-CA) who highlighted the importance of federal support for water reuse and desalination projects. The congresswoman was joined on the opening session panel by Jeff Kightlinger, General Manager of the Metropolitan Water District of Southern California; J. Michael Read, President of the Water Environment Federation (WEF); Andrew Richardson, Immediate Past-President of the American Water Works Association (AWWA); and Pick Talley, President of the WateReuse Association. The opening session speakers emphasized the importance of partnerships in advancing water reuse and desalination.

The papers from the Symposium’s technical presenters are included on a unique USB flash drive. For information on ordering copies of the proceedings, visit www.watereuse.org/publications.htm.
