Membership Categories

The Association primarily consists of organizational members, including utilities, federal and state agencies, consulting firms, and universities. Join the Association by choosing the appropriate category below and using our secure online registration form. 

Agency/Water Supplier Members (Division A)

Public agencies, municipalities, and investor-owned or privately owned utilities that have an interest in the objectives and purposes of the Association and are engaged in or empowered to engage in: (1) reclamation and recycling of water; (2) employment of desalination or other advanced water treatment processes in public water supply; (3) development, management, and use of surface and/or groundwater; (4) management of water quality; and/or (5) management of agricultural or municipal wastewater, whether or not such waters are to be reused, are eligible to become Division A: Agency/Water Supplier Members of the WateReuse Association, provided the agency, company, or department so qualified is empowered to act jointly or cooperate with other entities for any of the objectives of the WateReuse Association.

If two or more entities share a board of directors, each entity may be an Agency/Water Supplier Member, provided that in order for each entity to vote, it must pay full dues.

Each Agency/Water Supplier Member shall designate a Primary Representative and up to two Alternate Representatives and shall notify WateReuse in writing of the names of its Representatives. These designated Representatives shall continue to represent the Agency/Water Supplier Member organization until WateReuse receives written notification from the Agency/Water Supplier Member of a change in its Primary Representative or Alternative Representative(s).

Each Agency/Water Supplier Member has voting privileges in the WateReuse Association, and all Agency/Water Supplier Member Primary and Alternate Representatives may serve as members and officers of committees of the WateReuse Association and the Board of Directors. Agency/Water Supplier Members located or doing business in more than one state shall be members of the State Section in which their corporate headquarters is located. If an Agency/Water Supplier Member has corporate headquarters in a state that does not yet have a WateReuse Association Section, that Member may designate a primary state of membership.

Associate Members (Division B)

Consultants, suppliers, manufacturers, organizations, firms, and businesses that have an interest in the objectives and purposes of the Association are eligible to become Division B: Associate Members of the WateReuse Association.

Each Associate Member shall designate a Primary Representative and up to two Alternate Representatives and shall notify WateReuse in writing of the names of its Representatives. These designated Representatives shall continue to represent the Associate Member organization until WateReuse receives written notification from the Associate Member of a change in its Primary Representative or Alternative Representative(s).

Each Associate Member has voting privileges in the WateReuse Association and all Associate Member Primary and Alternate Representatives may serve as members and officers of committees of WateReuse and the Board of Directors.

Associate Members located or doing business in more than one state shall be members of the State Section in which their corporate headquarters is located and may also join other State Sections for an additional dues contribution (additional funds go directly to the selected State Section(s)). If an Associate Member has corporate headquarters in a state that does not yet have a WateReuse Association Section, the Member may designate a primary state of membership and then join additional State Sections, as desired, for an additional dues contribution.

Associate Members located or doing business in more than one state shall be members of the State Section in which their corporate headquarters is located and may also join other State Sections for an additional dues contribution (additional funds go directly to the selected State Section(s)). If an Associate Member has corporate headquarters in a state that does not yet have a WateReuse Association Section, the Member may designate a primary state of membership and then join additional State Sections, as desired, for an additional dues contribution.

Affiliate Members (Division C)

Universities, schools, departments and agencies of federal, state, county, and local governments which do not qualify as an Agency/Water Supplier may be enrolled as Division C: Affiliate Members of the WateReuse Association. Each Affiliate Member shall designate a Primary Representative and up to two Alternate Representatives and shall notify WateReuse in writing of the names of its Representatives. These designated Representatives shall continue to represent the Affiliate Member organization until WateReuse receives written notification from the Affiliate Member of a change in its Primary Representative or Alternative Representative(s). Each Affiliate Member has voting privileges in the WateReuse Association and all Affiliate Member Primary and Alternate Representatives may serve as members and officers of committees of WateReuse and the Board of Directors.

Individual Members (Division D)

Individuals affiliated with a Member organization may be enrolled as Division D: Individual Members of the WateReuse Association. Individuals interested in the purposes and objectives of the WateReuse Association but who are not affiliated with a Member organization may petition the Association's Executive Director to join the WateReuse Association as an Individual Member. Individual Members do not have voting privileges in the Association; however, they may serve as voting members and officers of committees of WateReuse and the Board of Directors.

Student Members (Division F)

Full-time university students may be enrolled as Division F: Student Members of the WateReuse Association. Students may be admitted for membership under this category upon proof of current student body status at a recognized educational institution. Student Members do not have voting privileges in the Association; however, they may serve as voting members and officers of committees of WateReuse and the Board of Directors.
